Wheaton Warrenville South, with AJ Rogers tossing 4 TDs, routs Joliet Catholic: ‘We’re a team to be scared of’ — Naperville Schools news

Sean Norris has touted his quarterback, AJ Rogers, since the preseason.Rogers, also a talented basketball player, is the leader of a Wheaton Warrenville South junior class that did not lose a football game its first two years of high school. In a state blessed with elite quarterbacks, Rogers might not get the notoriety of some. But Norris, himself a former quarterback, believes that time will come.“ ‘Special’ is the right word for him. He’s a special young man, special player,” said Norris, WW South’s coach. “I said it before, I believe he is one of the top quarterbacks in the state, in the junior class one of the top guys.”Rogers and the Tigers made quite a statement Friday at Red Grange Field. He threw for 278 yards and four touchdowns to three different receivers in a spectacular air show. WW South’s defense shut down Joliet Catholic’s running game, and two early special teams plays sprung the Tigers’ dominant 38-7 win in a Class 6A first-round game.WW South (7-3) led 24-0 at halftime
